Spoke Too Soon

One of our favorite phrases at the flower shop is: no good deed goes unpunished.

The truth of that was brought to my attention immediately after writing my last post.

The DC area experienced its coldest day on record.

And then a couple more.

At some point the wind was so strong it tore the recently installed trellis  off my back deck.

The shop was closed one day for snow and then closed early on Saturday in the midst of a little blizzard.

Though Sunday was lovely, in a sunny, melty, wear your wellies to the gym kind of way.

Are these are just the ramblings of a woman with cabin fever or is this my fault?

In between  shoveling, well I shoveled once, usually my neighborhood husbands do it for me, I've been shopping in my attic.

I found a bird cage, a beautiful blanket and books.  I bought an old plate from my boss today for 5.00.

The colder it gets, the more I need to feather my nest.
And flower it too.

My computer is now misbehaving so I'm going to hit post and see if my apology can reach you all before total world apocalypse.

If you get this send me a message. Let me know all is forgiven and what you're doing to get through the winter that only just started.

xo J

    1. Oh, you're welcome, she said casually, as she turned up the heat.

I know, I shoveled and then I went to the gym and did upper body.

      Where is my brain?

  6. This has been such a cold winter that I now consider 20 degrees not bad. Below zero is not abnormal. What did they do before modern heating? Nice feathering you've got going. The cold just makes me want to be lazy. Blankets cats books.

      Before heating....before air conditioning.

Hope to never relive those past lives!

  13. I'm guessing the cats were disappointed no bird was in that cage.

We're in the lovely 50 degree range today before heading back into winter tomorrow. We could use some of that moisture you have out east--within reason, of course ;-)

Ayyiyi. I'll try and push a little moisture your way but remember I have no control over the outcome!

  17. Well I guess that is the good thing about this ridiculously cold winter....the nesting factor shifts into high gear. But seriously.....All I can think is that we chose to move back to this?? What were we thinking? I'm dreaming of palm trees and ocean breezes and my husband is promising to never complain about the heat of the summer....no matter what. Not that he ever complains....that's really more my department. On a happier note...I do love your newly styled bookshelf with your little painting and found birdcage. Love that little lamp and tulips in a jar. Pretty and cozy! Have s lovely weekend Jane!
