One of our favorite phrases at the flower shop is: no good deed goes unpunished.
The truth of that was brought to my attention immediately after writing my last post.
The DC area experienced its coldest day on record.
And then a couple more.
At some point the wind was so strong it tore the recently installed trellis off my back deck.
The shop was closed one day for snow and then closed early on Saturday in the midst of a little blizzard.
Though Sunday was lovely, in a sunny, melty, wear your wellies to the gym kind of way.
Are these are just the ramblings of a woman with cabin fever or is this my fault?
In between shoveling, well I shoveled once, usually my neighborhood husbands do it for me, I've been shopping in my attic.
I found a bird cage, a beautiful blanket and books. I bought an old plate from my boss today for 5.00.
The colder it gets, the more I need to feather my nest.
My computer is now misbehaving so I'm going to hit post and see if my apology can reach you all before total world apocalypse.
If you get this send me a message. Let me know all is forgiven and what you're doing to get through the winter that only just started.

We forgive you for everything....but just this once...so watch it it, Missy.....
ReplyDeleteCross my heart....glass will remain permanently half empty!
DeleteAll I can say is I look so forward to your posts........and, yes, we are cold in Georgia.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you< i should post more, but I never have anything of import to reveal.
DeleteBut if you happy with drivel, I'm delighted to write it: :-)))
er, sorry about that cold front...
I have the feeling my participation in this discussion will not be helpful. :(
ReplyDeletewell surely some weather catastrophe will occur, and when it does, you know where to point a finger. xo
DeleteSo I've complaining that I miss winter, wearing capris in Feb. is just not right! When all the sudden it's become cold and misty here. I'm loving it! Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteBe careful with that shoveling.
Oh, you're welcome, she said casually, as she turned up the heat.
DeleteI know, I shoveled and then I went to the gym and did upper body.
Where is my brain?
I think I had better not comment except to say I like your house:).
ReplyDeleteDamn you all must be having some nice weather in SanFrancisco and surroundings areas.
DeleteDon't you think I need a pouf tho?
This has been such a cold winter that I now consider 20 degrees not bad. Below zero is not abnormal. What did they do before modern heating? Nice feathering you've got going. The cold just makes me want to be lazy. Blankets cats books.
ReplyDeleteI know and 50 feels like summer.
DeleteBefore heating....before air conditioning.
Hope to never relive those past lives!
Surprise! Speaking of blizzards, I got stuck in Arlington midday Saturday mid-mani-pedi appointments w/friend Mary! Hope everyone got home safely.

DeleteI got a ride home with new Saturday driver. And that's a whole nother story!
That was a messy ride home, yeah?
A wonderful feathered and flowered nest!
ReplyDeleteThank you. xo
DeleteWhat on earth are you apologizing for? We are all each other shrinks don't you know that? Love that birdcage. Funny that your shopping in your attic, I'm trying to unclutter the basement. Cold weather, Oy!
ReplyDeleteI was just kidding, kind of, I don't actually think my optimistic post about spring coming brought on this bad weather. Or do I...
DeleteOoooh I LOVE that birdcage!!! And we'll just not talk about our current weather in Arizona, but you should totally come a visit! ;o)
ReplyDeleteTo feel warm again would be a wonderful thing. Checking flights!
DeleteStay warm there Jane! Lovely birdcage!
ReplyDeleteMadelief x
Trying:-) Thank you.
DeleteCome to England, home of the weather-obsessed! We haven't really had winter at all this year - not that it's stopped us from talking constantly about the weather at all, oh no.....
ReplyDeleteSee, so my country. And I would rather talk about the possibility of winter than experience it.
DeleteI'm guessing the cats were disappointed no bird was in that cage.
ReplyDeleteWe're in the lovely 50 degree range today before heading back into winter tomorrow. We could use some of that moisture you have out east--within reason, of course ;-)
We hit the 40's today, which feels like paradise, with more snow in the forecast for tomorrow.
DeleteAyyiyi. I'll try and push a little moisture your way but remember I have no control over the outcome!
See, it was not all my fault!

Snowfie
But we had more with you here, wait a minute, your sister is in the States.....hmmmm
DeleteOh poo... Just blame the nonexistent global warming...to believe or not believe! Take care and keep shopping that attic...terrific finds! Smiles...Susan
ReplyDeleteAnd, did you get anything over night? I think you are too far north. We got 6 inches or so. Pretty, but hateful! Stay warm! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWell I guess that is the good thing about this ridiculously cold winter....the nesting factor shifts into high gear. But seriously.....All I can think is that we chose to move back to this?? What were we thinking? I'm dreaming of palm trees and ocean breezes and my husband is promising to never complain about the heat of the summer....no matter what. Not that he ever complains....that's really more my department. On a happier note...I do love your newly styled bookshelf with your little painting and found birdcage. Love that little lamp and tulips in a jar. Pretty and cozy! Have s lovely weekend Jane!
