Elle

Finally the long and arduous hunt for a new roommate has come to an end.

S-man left big shoes to fill. And no one was coming close.

Sure there were some people that sounded interesting ,like the 23rd old from LA who was coming to do an internship at a magazine in Arlington. I googled him, he made the first of his 3 films at age 16.

Too cool for me.

The man who works for the Taiwanese government. Umm, maybe not.

Everyone had a different story, but like Goldilocks, I felt none of them were just right.

Then along came Elle.

French, 22 years old,  with 6 month internship in DC,  a footfall (American) fanatic, the 49ers unfortunately for her and she loves to bake.

We're talking French pastries. Macaroons, tartes, crepes, butter cremes, gateaus.

Well, that's what we talked about over dinner tonight....

Within hours of moving in, her room was decorated, her groceries were stashed away and she was happily nestled in her room working away on her computer.

Last night at dinner we were discussing social media and I told her I blog.

What do you blog about she asked. Well, I thought, you're up next.

The cats are vaguely interested but they're not making a commitment yet.

Wait till they get a mouthful of  eclair.

xo J

P.S. And a big thank all  to of you who opened up and shared their pictures and stories on As You Were. I loved the intimate glimpses into your lives.

We'll be doing this again. Once a month?

Can you tell what I'm like in person? The "come on guys let's put on a play" type.

Yup. That's me.

  3. Congrats to you all! I know you really interview them based on food making abilities, LOL.
They say when the student is ready, the teacher arrives-maybe it's time to really get into the baking thingy?

    1. Yes, if I get a pastry bag she'll show me something easy and delicious.

      Food making abilities and cleanliness.

      She scores highly.

  4. She sounds great---so glad you waited for the right one. V different from S'man, but equally interesting. Sorry about the 49'ers I was rooting for them. I will be rooting for Broncos at the Superbowl 'cause Peyton is my football brother in law, if you know what I mean.

    Once a month, yes.

    1. Good. Once a month will give us time to recover from exposure.

Where was Eli last week? Didn't see him at the game.

    2. Eli was here, as were older brother Cooper and of course, proud parents Archie & Olivia. Only Archie was interviewed, at least on Colorado air, that I saw. Jen, thanks for the ongoing Orange support & Mizz Jane, hope we can count on you for Super Bowl Broncos cheers?

  7. She sounds lovely and just the ticket...neat and bakes! Bonus=loves football. Hated to see the 49ers lose out, hopefully she can muster some enthusiasm for one of the top 2. Will be counting "Omahas" from my fav QB...after an overdose of cuteness from the Hallmark Channel's Kitten Bowl! Super day, indeed!

  9. Aaaawww, you've made me all nostalgic for my young French lodger, years ago - Florent, tall, dark, handsome, (male, running away from being conscripted into the army by pretending he was actually attending his college course) and the worst, the very worst, cook I have ever seen in my life. My house was permanently filled with a haze of acrid blue smoke from the cooker. But we all loved him, especially my ginger cat Kevin, who slept with him and followed him around. When he left, the Army having found him at last, I threw away two of my cooking pans..... Hope Elle turns out as well as she promises!

  10. Elle sounds promising.

But what's wrong with working for the Taiwanese government? I'm just curious.

    1. I know nothing about the Taiwanese government, we just didn't jive with one another.

Might have learned something new in the kitchen tho'...
