My good friend Rina picked me up from work today. She has a two seater sports car. I had the Lab at work with me today. She weighs 70 lbs. It was a rather uncomfortable ride home with a car full of nervous dog. She had no place to go, no place to hang her hat so to speak. I was also a wee bit nervous because she kept resting her weight on one paw delicately placed near my pelvis. We proceeded at a decorous pace. I tried to keep my mind off what would happen when we arrived home and I opened the car door.....Finally after a very long ten minute drive we were home, I opened the door, picked her up and placed her on the ground. I heaved a huge sigh of relief and came in to make us an espresso, caffeine being so calming to the nerves.
I was excited to be home though, for after several months wait, my bathroom was going to be wallpapered. Mr. Johns had hoped to finish it today, but when I came home I found a wall full of buckets and ladders in the dining room. The prep work on my teetiny bathroom was more extensive than expected. But the plaster is drying, the walls are stripped clean of 2001's paper and he looks good to go tomorrow.
So I guess I'll be taking the Lab back to work with me. I hope for a roomier ride there and back. And some pictures to show you of my Retro Starburst walls.
The post title was a lot sexier than the contents, yes?
Cant wait to see the end result!

Sounds like another adventure coming your way tomorrow! I hope she's not as nervous tomorrow, poor girl.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the bathroom though.

Normally one would LOVE to have a friend with a two-seater- it sounds so Nancy Drew "roadster". I'd gladly take the lab tomorrow, but doubt that's a good alternative. Hope the wallpaper rocks - you are showing us pictures... right? xo
ReplyDeleteComeca, Us either!
ReplyDeleteJanet, It's a little different than the chinoiserie...but maybe in 10 years you'll be ready for a change:)
Sue, No she loves to ride in cars, just not little bitty cars. Though if I hadn't been hogging the seat she would have been cool.
Webb, Exactly right! I had even written roadster then took it out. The lab would love to spend the day with you. Anymore braised beef? Yes,pics to come.
Wait, Rina weighs only about 70 pounds too - so that should even the roadster-balance-thingy? I just KNOW there's an official word for that...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the finished result.. So funny the thought of you, the Lab and the two of you in the sports car..! And thank you for your comment - you were right - all comments today were at the guest blog site ('cept for yours!) but that's fine!! More comments then the work blog has had for AGES (so a win win situation - brownie points for me!!!) XXX
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the pics of the new wallpaper, tho I was slightly disappointed there were none of the 2 girls, 1 lab and a sportscar. I'll bet that was cute!
ReplyDeleteMmmm at least your lift wasnt on a motorbike!! I'm thinking more Scooby doo , Velma and Daphne should have been the title!!...Sinead x
ReplyDeleteJane,
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I know the feeling all too well of having a hefty lab close at hand, on hand, on belly (as in on my belly)...and you are a slip of a thing, so I can see why you were a little leery with that car ride.
Oh, can't wait to see the results. I can't use wallpaper in my new rental. Considering stenciling of all things.
ReplyDeleteGew, Jajajaj. Word. Maybe if the 70 lb.lab sat on the 70 lb. girl it would all even out. I was so afraid she would put all her weight on my pelvis and leap out. Ayyiyiyiyi.
ReplyDeleteSemi Expat, no really do you ship overseas? Fantastic clothes:)
Karin, Bet someone out there has one somewhere, we were quite the traffic stopper!
Sinead, Velma.........
Julia, almost a flatter slip of a thing. very sore shoulders today. Not easy to lift a 70 lb. weight from a sitting position and place on ground.
Denise, We're stenciling a wall in the bedroom. We have a ginormous paisley stencil. Loce it.
Painting and decorating - far better than a sports car any day! Or having your ovaries squished by a big lump of a dog. IMO, naturally.
ReplyDeleteNow we await the unveiling of Mr Johns' handiwork.....
Sounds a bit of a squash.. Love before and afters x
ReplyDeleteHa ha, you make me laugh Jane.. (Romantic Home ref.) .. I have been told to get myself 'out there' xx
