I Am He As You Are Me As We Are All Together

Apparently I don't have an original thought in my head these days. I am a blog creature.

After working out I went grocery shopping with my gym partner.

She tends to buy what I buy, so we arrived at the check out counter each purchasing a head of cauliflower, sweet potatoes, sauerkraut, cava cava oranges and avocados among other items.

Our shopping had been punctuated with verbal recipes for these items, roasting of cauliflower, sweet potatoes, carrots, ingredients for and additions to a grain bowl, and a simple but satisfying braised sauerkraut using chicken sausage instead of pork.I told her roast cauliflower is as addictive as potato chips. Yes I said that.

When I came home I made a lunch of avocado toast topped with a quick pickled red onion flavored with clementine peel I conveniently have in the refrigerator and ate it while I looked at my copy of Bohemian Modern by Emily Henson that had just arrived in the mail.

This morning I finished reading The Girl On The Train someone on Instagram had recommended and the new book in my queue is The Sweet Life In Paris by Davis Lebovitz and of course I have his new cookbook My Paris Kitchen on a bookshelf.

What have you people done to me?

So after I water my house plants, maybe whip up a macrame holder for one of them, vacuum my appropriately tatty Oriental rugs, I'm going to curl up on the couch, prop my head up with a kilm pillow purchased on Etsy, cover up with a Bolivian blanket ( actual gift from Bolivia) and watch the snow fall.

I still eat gluten though. So there.

  1. I read "The Sweet Life in Paris" about two years ago, then he started to annoy me for no aparent reason, whatever. I love the tick upholstery on your couch, everything I eat contains gluten---not or ever have been into the "new" eating disorder, I don't get it. Love roasted cauliflower.

  2. Though I love his recipes and his IG feed, I concur, he's not the best writer. But it's starting to snow, I'll happily read almost anything. Almost. Xo

  7. Indeed, I agree with Amelia, that couch looks so very inviting. May be time to re-upholster "a la Jane."

  8. Jane, you are too funny. I have read the above books and have cooked from My Paris Kitchen.
If you are not looking for great literature, I feel both books are entertaining. I enjoyed reading My Paris Kitchen, and everything I've cooked from it has come out well, and I especially enjoyed the salted olive crisps. Your home looks just perfect in which to spend the day reading.

    1. I think that's why I got the book after you posted pics of the crisps on IG, could that be true?

    1. I enjoyed it, I wasn't fond of any of the characters but the plot kept me reading right along. Though I did have an inkling...

  11. Love that couch, indeed! If you seriously want some more snow, perhaps I could arrange for my son in suburban Boston to ship you some? They have plenty and it looks like it's not going anywhere soon!
Be your own Valentine, indeed. You're getting it, Mizz Jane.

  12. Snow, whassat? We have rain though - lots of it. Snow would be nicer.

I was thinking - if you were truly influenced by us, your loyal readership, wouldn't you have more cats? Just sayin'......

  13. Haha I love it! The roasted cauliflower bit is actually a "who knew?" for me.

Well at least you are aware... And just like any garden, we blog-heads are very much products of our environment, yes?
