The Unsung Rewards Of Good Parenting

If you can't stop encourage your cats to wake you up as early as they choose ( as soon as the birds start chirping), even on your precious day off, you might view the day in a new way.

From above:

You can keep an eye on the birds and the neighborhood cats who clearly have better owners who let them out earlier.

From atop a barrel:

Where you harbor the illusion that no one can see you because you are ( almost) hidden by the climbing hydrangea. The possibilities are mind boggling.

 And the flowers are illuminated.

Or sitting at your computer, downloading pictures, you might realize what beautiful shadows play on the wall at 7:00 am, when you are usually in the shower.

And all is forgiven. Who knew this moment existed in time?

You go to the door to let in Gus and realize it isn't Gus after all but the other ginger cat who lives across the street.

Lucy isn't happy.  Confusion reigns.

You go to the kitchen and ice yourself another latte.

Maybe later there will be a nap?

  2. Great kitty pix and did I even know about climbing hydrangeas? So funny about the other ginger cat! There is a giant gray cat who comes around and plays staring games with my cats, who get all puffed up. Beautiful shadows--Aji like to chase shadows.

    1. Climbing hydrangeas, great for shade but hard on your patience.....takes years to bloom. But hey, I gave it time and now am rewarded!

  3. Jane...The climbing hydrangea is almost as striking as the guard posted on the barrel! My puny little climbers have been a disappointment...maybe I need a watch cat to inspire them. What a lovely shadow you would have missed if your furry alarm had not awakened you! The word is out to the neighborhood cats...Jane's is the happening place. Enjoy your day from sun-up to bedtime!

    1. They seem to take years to establish themselves...but then watch 'em go!

    1. He only thinks he;s in the hydrangeas. Poetic license?

  6. My cats are entirely visible, two of them wear double bells - loud ones - on their collars, but does that mean they don't catch birds? Sadly, it doesn't. If only they would content themselves with just bird-watching.....

    1. These two wouldn't keep a collar on if it was welded onto their necks. Luckily it was a day without a massacre.

  7. I've been blessed with Addie - she WILL kiss me early in the morning but politely goes back to bed when I ask her to. Feeling very deserving after years of living with Mr. Whiner starting at 4:00 most mornings!!
But aside from bragging about my recent good fortune, I must say I LOVE the color of your door and those shadows are magic.

    1. Well thank you. It's in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint. Where's Steve when you need him?

      Lucky you. Lucky Addie.

  8. Without our animals, how would we ever keep to a routine? Dorothy hops up into bed and wakes me with a soft meow and a head butt (or two) most every morning, if Ruby's bladder alarm hasn't gone off by then and she begins to howl downstairs in her crate. Dinnertime is strictly adhered to. Ruby knows precisely when it's six o'clock, with a short recalibration period allowed for time change twice per year.

You and I have the same color door.
