Benched!

It was/is so cold here today I resolved not to go out.

And that resolve holds steady.

Lucy took the indoors only oath with me.

I cooked all day, she slept all day.

Gus rushed in and out, in and out, in and out, finally collapsing in a big heap of ginger fur on the bed to sleep, only rising to eat.

A friend, who is a Radiologist, stopped by today to drink espresso, eat a pumpkin cookie and read my MRI report.

 The cookies were better.

Yes, I do have a tear. Yes, she is sure surgery is the only path and no, I will never be a body builder. Or a pitcher. Sorry Nats.

I see my doctor early in December. We'll see what's what after that.

But no more carrying casket sprays up the stairs from the basement at work. Though I figured that one out yesterday. After the fact of course.

Tomorrow the work madness begins. Being the good wife to myself that I am, I made mac and cheese with cauliflower, baked oatmeal with fresh cranberries, and the sure to be healthy for you, pumpkin cookies.

I'm ready coach, put me in!

Oh, wait, never mind.

And as ever, a huge thank you all for the encouraging comments on my last post. I read them when you wrote them, I read them the morning of and I read them while in the waiting room.

It was like swallowing a big courage pill.

xo Jane

P.S. I added golden raisins to my cookies, 1/3 of a cup. Next time I'll increase the amount.

  1. The cold felt brutal today. I went out to the recycle bin once and took the Lucy's oath. I cranked up the heat and the humidifier and settled in with the cats. Wish I had a few of those pumpkin cookies.

That's a drag about your rotator cuff. You'll be happy when that's fixed.

  2. Wish I could send you some...fewer for me to eat.

I will be happy when it's fixed, I haven't got time for the pain, she sang.

    Stay warm. xo J

Braved the cold for Addie today - first to play in the back and then to Puppy training class. Is it suddenly January?

    1. It's kind of more painful now that I know there is a legit cause. Before I was just annoyed with myself!

  8. Sorry about your shoulder, Jane. I know it will be a challenge, but try and take it easy during the madness. Your cookies look like mood lifters. Hope they are helping, at least a little bit.

  9. Yum... Pumpkin cookies...wish their was an aroma button on blogger! Sounds as if you had the perfect Sunday. So, so sorry about the shoulder... Be as careful as you can to avoid strain and pain. More on baked oatmeal, please... I make an oatmeal, cranberry, pecan cookie, but your oatmeal is probably healthier! Happy Thanksgiving week from chilly South Georgia! Susan

  10. Oh man...that sucks (rotator cuff). Sorry you're going to have to do the surgery. Hope you have a wonderful enough Thanksgiving that you manage to forget about it, at least for a little while! I'm sort of in the same boat - I have an abscessed tooth that I can't get fixed until after the holiday. I'll be living on Tylenol til then...

  14. I had a rotator cuff tear several years ago....I did not have surgery.

I gently worked with it with yoga and heating pads and hot water bottles.....I recovered fully in about 6 weeks.

Your situation may be different., but I wanted to tell you that perhaps you can recover without surgery.

  15. My first comment disappeared into the void.... can't remember what I'd written now, but I'm sure it was something encouraging, sympathetic and admiring! Carry on eating cookies, brave girl.

  16. Sorry about the shoulder. Surgery ain't cake, but not the worst thing in the world, either. If you want specific info email me at webb2206@hotmail.com. Five weeks of bad, then 80% ok by six months. At one years i am 100%, and you're inbetter shape than i was.

Happy Thanksgiving. Next year you will be thankful for a pain-free shoulder that works fine. xoxo
