Full of weather. Mornings foggy and grey, afternoons sunny, the air heavy with humidity.
Thursday was 87 degrees, Friday, rainy and cool and windy, 55degrees.
Somedays I rushed home and changed into shorts and flipflops. Yesterday I took a hot bath and put on my warm yoga pants and fleece lined slippers.
I am confused.
I've been to Ikea to get a new table for outside. The umbrella is up, the window boxes are filling out and the gardenia outside my bedroom is in bloom.
Sweet dreams are made of this.
One more day of work and then two days to spend in the garden. GG's new GF is in town for the weekend so home seems a safe place to be.
I was invited to the same party they will be attending. I am not that tough. Bet you all knew that.
Tonight I'll go to the Pink House where since last reporting there is a 18 month old baby boy and a puppy in residence.
I've noticed that one of the moms has less time to spend on FaceBook since the puppy addition.
She held her own, posting and commenting thru Jackson but since Josie, the puppy, has been added, her time to "like" is seeming over for now.
Unless she no longer "likes" the pictures of the cats. Hahahah. Like that's a possibility!
Even Miss P. admitted to LOVING Gus and we know she is all about the Hound.
Monday I'll have neighbors over for a shrimp boil.
And Long Fence? Where's my new fence? You said 3 weeks. That was Friday. 50 feet may be a small job for you but it's a big deal over here.
Enough about me.
What's in your wallet?
xo Jane
Wow...that stings I'm sure. People invite you both because they don't want to be the one to exclude one or the other. They let you decide which one stays home. Glad you are protecting yourself by not attending.
ReplyDeleteI know,still stings.
DeleteThank god the people pleasing side is diminishing.
Quickly.
Ouch. Sounds like a good weekend for a movie/tv marathon alternating with bouts of sun, garden, kitties, baby and puppy.
ReplyDeleteI just watched Breaking Bad and recommend it, especially if you are in the mood for black humor.
Pretty pretty home pictures. The flowers are delightful--Is that a ranunculus or a rose?
A perfect ranunculus. Breaking Bad? Been there. Will check it out. Wish I could borrow a stack of books from your casa.
DeleteBoo! New girlfriends are horrid, horrid creatures, unless they are yours. Retreat in dignity my friend, your day will come.
ReplyDeleteThank you oh wise, supportive one.
DeleteA baby, doggies, friends, cats and your sweet home and garden will be a safe, good place for you to be this weekend. In time you will be accepting all the invites that you care to go to. xoxo
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteWe've had the same nut-job weather-80's for a week, and 50's for highs this week. We should warm up today a bit. Finger crossed!
ReplyDeleteThe invite?
That's...interesting. Me, I'm a horrible person, so I would accept the invite, run to the local mall and have a "makeover" make-up session, get a mani-pedi and a fab outfit. I might hijack a friend of a friend to show up with me. I'd be fashionably late, then leave after 20 minutes with a "Sorry we have other places to saunter off to..."
Like I said, I can be horrible.
I blame it on my Scorpio rising :P
If the party wasn't 2 hours away I might borrow your Scorpio rising!
DeleteTorn between commenting on text or photos! LOVE that chinese cabinet. you aren't putting up the fence yourself?
ReplyDeleteSaw some Leland Cypress yesterday. now i'm really sad you lost yours.
new GF? ouch.
if it EVER stops raining this weekend, I'll take a big dose of Motrin and plant the dahlias. Wish I could come to the pink house!
I should have put the fence up. It would be a done deal. Weird as hell but done.
DeleteOuchy indeed.
xo Jane
"what's in your wallet"...jane you have the best phrases of all x
ReplyDeleteYou do make me laugh. At 5am on a chilly day, that's good.
ReplyDelete"what's in your wallet?" :-)
Ouch indeed. It's like here... his ex-wife, my ex-husband, small town, everyone shops same grocery store, knows everyone's habits - good and bad :), can't volunteer for much because the ex-wife is involved in everything...hang in there. As LPC said "dignity' is the only remedy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have lots of lovely going on despite the party bleugh - LPC said it true. Big squeeze to you from a positively Baltic Blighty. xxx
ReplyDeleteHow incredibly insensitive! Hope you have lots of good stuff to do inyour garden - well duh. It's a garden. By definition you have lots to do ... forever. :-)
ReplyDeletePart two - tablet issues apparently...
ReplyDeleteYour peonies are lovely, and you are just flaunting that ranunculus, aren't you? Happy weekend. Sending you good thoughts and energy. Xoxo
I am flaunting that ranunculus.....but it isn't from my garden. Not a one of those bulbs came up. And the pot of pineapples lilies is in the basement. Too heavy for me to heave out.
DeleteWonder if they'll bloom in the gloom?
I could certainly use a bit of your flower skills this morning, to whip up an arrangement or two to wow my open garden visitors. Oh, well, a clump in a container will have to do. My garden is a total mess, but I will proudly open it this Sunday and next, and I refuse to apologize for the weeds and other assorted crap. This is the new me.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of "new me", I see great growth in you, my dear. New GF is the pits ... but you have kittens and shrimp and friends to share them with, which is much better. The fence will come, just not when Long Fence said it would. FB comes and goes in waves. Real friends are always there, even if you don't hear from them for a while.
Same wacky weather here. Ich! Winter's back and the wind, oy! New GF already, well she moved on fast. You do so too my friend, you deserve better. Enjoy your shrimp, puppies, babies, kittens, etc. Sounds like you're having your own party.
ReplyDeleteOh you have already been wearing flip flops and shorts Jane. Lucky you! It's still cold and wet in Holland :-( I got my winter clothes out of the cupboard again!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week!
Madelief x
Such weird weather all over the world! Am sure the shrimp were delish! X
ReplyDeleteJane-
ReplyDeleteHope you've enjoyed your Memorial day weekend ! I'll be in Virginia the week of the 16th of July. I'm going to send Charlotte a message tomorrow about that. Hope I get to meet you when in your neck of the woods.
So sorry to know anyone hurt your feelings.. especially because it's obvious how special you are !
Best- Robyn Xo
Robyn, It was be fabulous to get together. Now I'm excited.
DeleteBe sure to bring a minimum of clothing. It's like the tropics here in July.
xo Jane
Yay ! wearing dresses for sure :)
DeleteNew GF already - how painful; well, sensible of you to stay away. You've coped so well so far, and there are some situations where one's feelings shouldn't be on show, no matter what the provocation. And putting on a show of not caring might fool some, but won't make you feel better inside....
ReplyDeleteSoldier on - your time will come! x
Owww.... that hurts. But it will sting less in time and you are making the right choice to protect yourself.
ReplyDeleteIf I were on facebook I'd 'like' those kitty pictures. They are awesome.
Hugs,
Chloe M.
Lovely photos! I hear you about the weather--we had days and days of pouring rain, then two days of chilly sunshine, and now we're back to rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be 80 degrees. We never seem to have an actual spring anymore in Maine. Just winter, then monsoons, then a very sticky summer. Global warming sucks, as do new GFs. Here's to the solace that beautiful flowers can bring! xo Gigi
