It is the time of year when even the most jaded florist, the "I've been doing this for over 20 years type" comes alive.
When you are surrounded by flowers and berries in shades of reds and golds and purples and you have persimmons and lemons and artichokes for the picking, life is suddenly richer.
The skies are bluer, the wind is cooler, the customers are back in town and throwing parties.
It almost feels like an election year:-)
And if the guest of honor is a politician you don't see eye to eye with?
Kill him with kindness and ornamental cabbage.
Gorgeous autumn bouquets...What is the spikey brown thing that looks kinda like a corn cob? Love the wild look!!
ReplyDeleteIt's banksia cocinea, in the protea family, from Australia.
ReplyDeleteI love them, they also dry well.
Gorgeous mix. Loving the banksia too!
ReplyDeleteHow about bouquets of particularly allergy-inducing flowers for politicians with whom you don't agree?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, now we're thinking:-)
DeleteGorgeous, gorgeous. Why do our flower shops not look like this? It's autumn here too, and we have politicians galore with whom we definitely do not see eye to eye.....
ReplyDeleteIs it also an election year? Might be the key.
DeleteSuch treasure troves of color & art. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIncredible! I love love love the mix of colors, shapes and textures. I never thought I would like autumn bouquets so much--I just think of the awful ones at the supermarket. These are a different species.
ReplyDeletebeautiful colors and flowers and great advice.:)
ReplyDeleteIt's true, this is the season for the richest colors. Still getting dahlias, I see. Our local faire froze last weekend.
ReplyDeleteI just love all that texture.. that banksia is my favorite. Three cheers for Fall!
Oh I adore each photograph. I wish your shop was located near me. I love the organic feel of all your arrangements. Loved your post! Bonnie
ReplyDeleteI agree with bonnie. Wish youwere closer. Lovely work as alwys. When i can drive, well actually ... when i can park, ill have to try to chase down some protea and some ranuncs.
ReplyDeleteYou need to add the little guys to your profile before they learn to read.
I don't know if I could do that...I really don't like some of them but your advice is right. You're a great florist! We had a gal return her arrangement last week because she didn't understand why we would put a "head of lettuce" in it! Really.
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying this beautiful fall.....
"Kill him with kindness and ornamental cabbage"... love it! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love all these colors. What do you do, throw the cabbage as hard as you possibly can with your girly arm aiming at his perfectly coiffed head and then kindly say "oops I'm sorry, just slipped out of my hand."
ReplyDeletejajajaja....you would have loved to eavesdrop on the ideas flying around the design table.
