So about those kittens.....
One of my favorite clients is a very funny, high powered lawyer who is either jetting off to Asia or rushing off to get her hair blonded or calling a couple of cat psychics when her cats get out and wander off. The rest of the time she's dropping off a vase(s) and letting me fill it/them with what ever I choose, no price point. What's not to love?
Who better to sympathize with me about Pokey? And who knew she fostered cats and what luck she happened to have 4 kittens at home.
Before I could dry my crying eyes we had a 9:00am date set up at the shop for the GG and the Lab to meet the kittens.
It was a success, Nika wagged her tail and kept a big lab grin on her face and 2 of the 4 kittens clambered around her as if they'd always known her. GG had a lap full of kitten within seconds and no matter how weakly I protested we couldn't adopt 2 cats, not enough room, not enough money, not enough time, everyone ignored me, exchanged email addresses and by the time I came home from work it was a done deal.
GG got on Facebook for the first time in years and posted these pictures of the kittens that she found on the SPCA Nova site.
They're older now, 12 weeks and counting. The little lady in the first picture is Lucy and Mr. is Octavius aka Gus.
We're off to Charlottsville, Va for a long weekend. We'll pick up the babies on Monday. Photo ops galore coming up.
And if anyone has any suggestions for things to do people to see this weekend let me know.
And many thanks to everyone who participated in this months floral global chain. All of you, the usual suspects and the newbies brought much beauty to a Monday Monday.
It was all I hope it would be.
Kudos to the Mama and the Papas and Janet:-)
Good on you GG a kitten should never have to grow up on its own without a playmate!!! They are soo pretty can't wait to see updated photos! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat's right Jules, validate her:-)
DeleteWhen it comes to two instead of one...always!!!!!! xx
DeleteI see much hilarity and the welcome kind of trouble with a capital T in your future. Can't wait for Monday!!!
ReplyDeleteCats really are better in pairs. At least they are if they grow up together. My little newbie still can't understand why Louise hates her and spits and growls every time she sees the little one - after 6 weeks! I've always heard that female yellow cats are pretty rare (I think I remember they said 95% of yellow cats are male), so you got something special! Sorry I missed Flowers In The HOuse this month - I'll catch you next time!
ReplyDeleteHello Jane
ReplyDeleteI am laughing at you acquiring a Zoo. Gus and Lucy are precious and I will look forward to hearing of their adventures and antics.
Helen xx
Such sweet faces. Looks like this will be a gratifying acquisition.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought about C'ville was all the wineries ... but better, if this is your first trip... UVA campus, the downtown mall swith darling little restaurants and shops (eat outside if the wearher's good), Monticello if you have time, and Ash Lawn, the Kluge Museum is intereting and if you have time get on the trolly-bus that circles from downtown to the campus. It will give you a good overview nin about 45 minutes. Have a great time. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Webb great suggestions. I'll have Friday afternoon to myself, so I might take that bus tour.
DeleteSuch adorable kittens! I heartily recommend pairs.
ReplyDeleteOne of my happiest memories is of Titus and Patrick growing up together in my home, from tiny, unrelated-but-abandoned, kittens. A whole summer of kitten-watching, unforgettably wonderful! May you have as much pleasure in your new little ones as I did with mine.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable....You will keep us up to date on all their adventures???? Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable. Just think of all the blog material they will provide. Have fun in C'ville.
ReplyDeleteI agree it good to get a pair. They'll be best buddies. Looking forward to seeing your new baby pictures.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad!
ReplyDeleteNow if I could persuade my parents to re--kitten themselves...they are such fun. Kittens, not my parents. Well, not usually. Sometimes. Well...
Well thank god you clarified that, I was beginning to wish we had adopted your parents:-)
DeleteWe adopted a pair of kitties who had a long and happy life with us for 14 years. We miss the little guys! You are in for great fun and joy, they will be best buds.
ReplyDeleteThank God after our last antisocial critter a couple of happy kittens would be just amazing to have around.
DeleteOh, they just define the word cuteness. How much fun are these two going to be? Can't wait to see them growing up. Never been to Charlottesville so can't help, I'm sure you'll have a great time anyway. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened to me two years ago ... went to PetsMart to show the Husband a kitten I was longing for, only to find that he liked the other one. He wasn't asking me to choose, he was the one that wanted to adopt them both (weird, because he's a cat person only because I dragged him kicking and screaming into the world of cats.)
ReplyDeleteAdopting two kittens at once has been totally positive for us. I have never before had cats who enjoy and seek out the companionship of other cats. They sleep together, play together, and impose their presence on poor Maggie ... who DOESN'T much enjoy other cats.
What sweet little babies!
It does my heart good to read this. xo
DeleteHow fabulously cute, Mr Octavius comes with little white shoes.
ReplyDeletePaul
What cute babies! Congratulations on your new additions! xo
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely adorable, and they look so much like my kitties! We adopted a mother/daughter (teenage mama, they are only 6 months apart) combo 12 years ago. They're just the same color, I call it "orange-creamsicle"! Your new additions are just darling, have fun! Two is always better than one, and nothing is more fun, or funnier, than kittens!
