Gold All Around

Just checking in.  This week blew by in a heartbeat.

We have been watching the Olympics at night and the kittens appear to be under the influence.

Gus starts out on the leather chair, vaults across the coffee table on to the wing back chair, scrambles up the back and after taking a big breath jumps a good 5 feet, with a hang time of  2seconds, onto the dining room table. Dah dah!

I turn the water on in the bathroom sink and in the miniscule amount of time it takes to wet a toothbrush, whoosh, he's there. Faster than a speeding bullet, our own Bolt.

And getting out of the shower? Forget about it.  I throw open the curtain and lift a foot, but before I can put it on the floor he's there, diving over the side, and skidding to a stop in front of his favorite place: the faucet.

And Lucy?  She's right behind him.  Or right next to him catching a few zzzzzz'z.

Because remember, 2:00am comes before you know it and that's when the party starts in our house.

But 2:00pm?  Shhhh, that's quiet time.

  4. Gus has the most fabulous tail, must be pretty cool having that swishing behind you as you walk. I'd like one just like it.

  5. Hello Jane
Whatever happened to your peaceful, calm house? What fun. I can just hear it we will all be saying: "See ya, I must Bolt"

  6. How is the dog reacting to them. I've just adopted a very old black lab who has never seen a cat, so it is interesting....

    1. Nika grew up with a cat in Connecticut so she's good with them. Tho she was rightfully scared of our last cat Pokey.

She's respectful of the kittens, a little fearful of Gus cause he smacked her across the nose his first night here for NO GOOD REASON. But she loves Lucy and wants to play. Too bad there's a 60 lb. weight difference.

All in all it's been a good first 5 days. Fingers crossed.

  8. Adorable!! You have perfectly described what I love most about having kittens in the house. There's something so wonderful about the mayhem caused by kittens (that cannot be tolerated if perpetrated by puppies). Gus and Lucy are totally kissable. (The Lab looks to be adjusting well so far.)

  9. Nikka looks relaxed! What's she like at 2:00 a.m.? Do these two ever cuddle? with you and GG?

    1. She's exhausted, titillated, pissed off, happy, you name it.

But she doesn't cry any more when I come home from work.

  14. Your kittens are so cute! Kittens seem to only have two speeds--full and off :)

  15. They are adorable - I want some! Love the photo of the kittens passed out on the sofa, and the dog sacked out on the floor, that says it all!

  16. Sounds like life at my house! Except that we only have the one. Thank god. Unlike you, I'm almost to the point of being exasperated!! Thelma is now experimenting with "climbing" the fiddle leaf fig in the living room. Oh, and chewing up magazines. Just for laughs. She IS awfully cute, though, and a lot of fun to watch when she's not being too destructive! And isn't funny how they go a million miles an hour until they just drop and fall asleep? Yours are adorable (especially asleep I'll bet)!

  17. Ah hah, that fiddle leaf fig story has validated my feelings that a Christmas tree will not be gracing our time living room this year.

I shudder to think what they would do.

Magazines? I'd have a serious chat about that! Never have I left tabletops so empty as now.

    we learn.
