How You Doing?

A friend of mine says she keeps checking the blog, not so much for a recovery update, since she gets daily emails, but in the hopes of reading some drug induced ramblings.

I'm going to assume you're here for both...

Surgery successful. Recovery challenging....especially for Susan who has been  on call 24/7.

Need ice machine refilled at 2:30 am, call Susan. Need a saltine and a percoset at 3:30 am? Sheets changed, cats fed, litter changed, caps taken off water bottles, help in and out of the shower, clothes changed, sling positioned, orange peeled, who you gonna call?

Those of you who urged me to give it 3 days were so on  target and these were the words I held on to thru day 2 when I needed all the drugs I could take but my body wasn't interested in housing them for long. I never knew how delicious saltines could be.

But by day 3 I was sipping vietnamese soup and eating crepes filled with honey and bananas. I even got to wash my hair.

Susan (a bit of a cat scaredey cat) is dealing with the cats by thinking of them as dogs. and they understand she's the new boss around here and treat her accordingly. Lucy has taken to sleeping with her.

In between numerous naps I catch up on Downton Abbey, House of Cards and am still struggling to finish last Thursday's New York Times.

If there's anything new in the world I'll  be the last to know.

I have been working on this post since Sunday.  I'm gonna give it up, ask Susan to add some caps and send it on it's way.

Soon I hope to come and visit you.  If I leave a comment it may end up in spam, my left hand has a mind all it's own, and my brain is under the influence.

I may have to run for mayor of Toronto.

Here's looking at you kid.

Hope your recovery continues on an upward path :)

Didja get flowers? Would it be weird sending get well flowers to a florist?
Do you inspect the arrangement a bit differently than most?

    1. I did get flowers, but from my boss. Even a bunch of tulips from the supermarket would make me happy.

  3. Being from Toronto, I invite you to come to our fair City and run for mayor....we would be far better off than with Rob Ford doing drugs, allegedly having people beaten and peeing on The Danforth (The Danforth is a Greek part of town famous for it's food festival at which the mayor peed on the street.

    Feel better soon.

  4. Like the selfie with sling :). Sounds like you're being well looked after - Susan is a bit of a gem. One-handed flower arranging? (Sounds like an ancient Japanese art!) x

  5. Keep the Percocet at "medicinal" levels and forget about running for mayor of Toronto. You're way too slim, cute and smart for that. Hope you're up to more than Saltines very soon. Humor intact, you'll survive almost anything. xo

  8. Glad to see you up and getting better. Can't see you peeing in the the streets anywhere, so i think that Raz will have to look elsewhere for a new mayor.

Can you make arrangements for a weekly chair massage starting the week after your next doc appt? I found that my neck and upper back got really tight from being in the same position all the time. My massage lady agreed to a weekly 30-minute chair on just my back and shoulders. It really helped.

    Missing you! xoxo

  11. Glad to hear you're among the conscious and well looked after. A chair massage does sound like a great idea!

Lucy is sleeping with Susan? Susan must have a very good imagination :)

  12. So glad you are on the mend. Not a fan of drugs myself, but take what you need to be nice and relaxed. It helps to mend you much faster. Take this from one who knows. Speedy recovery!

  13. You're upright with hair looks fabulous so all must be going well.

I hope she's keeping you in iced coffee too!

  14. Thanks for the selfie....you know we have difficulty believing if we're not seeing! Lucy must have uncovered Susan's inner cat-lover or she is being a very diabolical kitty and torturing Susan by choosing her as a bed-partner! Sounds as if you are in good hands. Good friends are a true blessing. Hope your appetite continues and the healing process smooth...you have lots of us sending you good thoughts! Smiles..Susan

  17. Finally, here you are. I have been waiting for your blog to pop up. You look great! I am glad you posted a picture of yourself. Hang in there, dear Jane. I will see you soon.

  18. Have been thinking of you. I hope your recovery proceeds. My issues turned out not to require surgery, but the healing is going slowly. Just had a cortisone shot on Wednesday, which has caused me red cheeks like crazy. Which, of course, I won't mind if the inflammation recedes enough that I can do PT without nerve pain.

    All the best Jane.

  19. Washed and dressed is good! Blogging is even better! If you weren't so far away, our postage rates so exorbitant and your Customs so pernickety, you'd be getting a box of home baking English-style (none of your fancy French refinements - just rib-sticking stuff that helps with any unwanted post-op weight loss). Love the notion that Susan is the new boss lady - cats are just devious, and know how to manage interim government..... Keep on getting better, and don't stay away too long! xx

  20. You're doing better at blogging than me and I have no excuse except being lazy and having no ideas. I love those slippers!
