Death By Chocolate

So I made that chocolate ganache tart. Mostly so I could show you a picture but also because S-man was so enthusiastic about the idea.

And yes, it was easy to make and full of chocolaty goodness.

But don't take my word for it.

Go ask Jackson.

Before it was even out of the pan, Jack has put his mark on it.
His sister Parker got the first piece.
He waited none too patiently for his.
He took his first bite.
Finished it in no time flat.
After asking for a glass of milk "I need some milk Mommy", he moved into her lap and went after her piece.
With gusto.
Now tell me this tart doesn't rock.

It ended as so many evenings do, everyone covered in chocolate and crying.

But that's how we roll.

  2. I saw a bumper sticker on the back of a BMW yesterday (who puts number stickers on BMWs?) "behind every great woman is a cat and a fridge full of chocolate." Was that your car?

    1. I have never seen anything like it in my life. I feel it was a v. rich and sophisticated taste.

i see it is also appealing to infants.

  4. Before the tart came out of the pan, it sort of looked like a HUGE Reese's cup! Are you going to share the recipe?

    1. A huge reese's cup with a tiny handprint. I did share the recipe, I'll link it up. Good point.

    2. I noticed the handprint - cute. Does the coconut milk flavor the tart with coconut at all? I wonder if I could use some kind of soy milk...I would be making this for my brother and his girlfriend, both of whom are vegan but I would be eating it too and I don't care for coconut. thanks for the recipe

  6. Just to be clear...by the end of the evening we were ALL covered in chocolate, but only Jackson was crying. and YES, that tart (and the entire meal preceding it!) was as delicious and decadent as it looks. We all wanted to dig in with our bare hands and smear it all over our faces, really.

  7. I believe I took some poetic license there.....the sentence just read better that way.

i also really made the tart because i knew Parker would love it and you guys wouldn't be appalled if it wasn't perfect, say the crust was too thick in places resulting in a chewy bite.
    oh wait, that did happen.

I love we're texting as I write this reply.

  8. I am really envious of Jackson right now. First he is devouring that tart and second he can jump in like that and it's perfectly OK. I hate being a grownup. Thanks for the recipe.

    1. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have gotten away with that with his other mom. Thus proving how smart babies are.

I did use butter. Grown ups get to make recipe changes. that's about it tho.

  9. I love that there is chocolate up to his elbows... Now that's enjoyment x 10! Jack could give us all lessons on wild abandonment, but then so could most toddlers. Too bad we grow up and lose some of our sense of wonder. Thanks for the pretty pictures... A toddler with curls + chocolate.. and the recipe!

  10. No better way to show your appreciation of chocolate than by smearing it all over your chops!
