Feeling Groovy

Hi, whew. I was leaving a comment on An Urban Cottage blog when suddenly I got locked out of my blog and had to change the password to get back in. Freaky, no?

I was just trying to play catch up and see what you all were up to.

I guess a birthday lasts a good week. Tonight we had a slice of a chocolate tart my friend and fellow Zumba addict Rachel, brought to dinner on Sunday and my senses are reeling. She says it's a very easy recipe and will email it to me. I shall post it for you all immediately. I think even a non baker like myself can do it.

But after the cake and before the lockout I had a flash of wonder that it has been 7 months since the breakup with GG and I'm feeling good again.

Good as in happy, self confident, grateful for each and every beautiful sunny September day and cool night, so cool the kittens cats are back in bed with me again. My vacation gave me a necessary punch of confidence. Thank you again to you hosts and hostesses.

I'm venturing into the kitchen again and enjoying every chop and stir. Work has gotten busy but I love the colors and textures of this season's flowers. When you're elbow deep in berries and leaves and artichokes, cayenne roses and chili peppers, it's hard not to have a smile on your face. Even if your smiling mouth is cursing.

Superman is in rare form, inventing marinades, grilling, whizzing up smoothies and brewing the perfect pot of coffee in his new French press.

It occurred to me that I will miss his presence come December when he reunites with his family, He is a just loaner husband after all....

So I decided to give internet dating a try. S-man calls it window shopping. It seems kind of silly to me with all the computer generated questions and facile answers. But it does help you sharpen your focus on what you might want in another relationship. And definitely what you don't want.

We all know I will meet the person of my dreams someday in Trader Joes as both of us reach for the same ripe mango.

But in the meantime there's no harm in looking, right?

  1. Pretty things going on on that picture. I'm intrigued by the driftwoody stick with the flowers.

It's surprising how many happy couples I've met or heard of, who found each other via the internet. Look at us. I mean,we're not dating, but we're friends. :)

So nice to hear you singing in the kitchen (so to speak).

  2. So happy to hear your good cheer! And I think Internet dating is a good thing, as long as you remember it's all about statistics:).

  3. I can hear a ring of happiness in this post. I bet if you said this in conversation, you'd have a smile on your face....and that's so wonderful. You have a lot of good things in your life...definitely go window shopping!

    1. And it's more fun to go shopping when you don't really need anything, right?

  4. I met both my late hubby and my forever-now guy online-but not on a dating site, LOL
My daughter and her beau are an OKCUPID couple, and a dear friend just moved to Brooklyn to continue her online romance in person! It's better odds than the lottery...good luck window shopping!
Yea for a new recipe. The chocoholic / bakers among us will love it. Glad your feeling like cooking again-resiliency is a good thing.

  5. Your good cheer makes me happy.

Favorite saying, "when you least expect, someone will come walking around the corner." Trader Joes for you no doubt . . . it happened to me, my husband walked in my office at work one day . . . the rest is history . . ,

  6. After a few years of manicuring her online dating presence, my friend decided to put 'herself' out there. She posted a photo of her wild haired self with a goofy expression on her face and edited a brief and honest description of her likes and dislikes. She's married to the guy who fell in love with that quirky photo. This is why it's good to go 'shopping' - like you said: to see what you really want. Have fun!

    1. Well I take dreadful pictures, so this story is particularly heartening. Hopefully someone will see past the image. Good story though!

  7. Finding a fabulous fellow can be tricky....my daughter had sworn off men after a series of dead end relationships and the last one particularly toxic. ...when she sat with close friends sipping a glass of wine and a wonderful guy from NZL asked some questions...and the rest they say is history.
You've got to squeeze a lot of mangoes at Trader Joes to get the best one:-))
Good luck and enjoy your shopping!

  9. Since you're back in the kitchen you may want to check out this pad Thai recipe that one of my local blogger colleagues just posted who's spending some time in Vietnam. It's hard to make this in my nonkitchen so hoping you'll whip it up and FedEx me a doggie bag. http://collageoflife-henrqs.blogspot.com/2013/09/cooking-at-chateau-mango-padthai.html

So I should be hanging out near the mangoes. Is that where it happens? I've been in the condiments aisle.

  11. Brave! Exciting! I've never considered internet dating - or any dating, to be honest, being generally bitter and twisted by life and preferring cats to humans anyway - and found The (beloved) Gardener by the most extraordinary chance, but I am surrounded by many more adventurous people who have tried it. What I picked up from their internet experiences is this: the photos tend to be old (ie from a slimmer, younger time). The self-description tends to be wildly subjective - well, it would be wouldn't it? - and sometimes hilariously inaccurate, and if you call yourself Sally Sparkle or some such, you are very likely to receive a flood of obscene responses within moments.... Oh, and a tip to men posting photos of themselves reflected in the bathroom cabinet mirror: make sure the toilet lid is down; such photos are going to be shared with everyone the shopping girl knows. But you, of course, are going to have fun, I just know it. Keep us posted!

  12. I'm very happy thet you are happy again. See? It just took a little time and you are back to your wonderful self again. The other day on the radio I heard that statistics show that people who have met through internet dating have the longest lasting relationships. Frankly I'm a little suspect of that since it hasn't been around that long, but it sounds positive so I think it's a great idea. Trader Joe's sounds good too!
