Why I Love Life: Reason #1

If you know me at all from reading this blog, it won't surprise you to hear that I ride the bus like I'm running for Mayor.

I like to know the names, the faces and the stories of my fellow ART 42 bus riders.

And even if you insist on thinking my name is Sandy, I'm still happy to be greeted by a big "Hello Sandy" and have a seat saved for me.

If your younger sister just married your father's best friend, and you refer to him as the pedophile, I wanna know.

If your brother died last weekend and you feel inclined to give me all the details of the upcoming funeral, you have my complete attention and sympathy.

And if you're another blogger, I'm thrilled beyond belief. Another blogger on my bus!

And then if you go to work, read this blog, and send me a lovely email, entitled Blog Appreciation, and say I've inspired you to start writing again and to smile and appreciate life a little more....well you have made my day. Maybe my week.

Now we just have to get Lora to join in Flowers In The House come September, then she can meet all of you too.

It's a small world after all.

  1. Can't wait to meet her! Sounds like she "will fit right in."
I talk to people at the bus stop as well, if they look open and not zoned out with their devices. Here, major sunflower action now, plus tons of cosmos (the white
being my favorite), Speedwell veronica and a few bright yellow mums just starting to open. Mobs of pink & purple coneflowers, neighboring the rudbeckia & black-eyed Susans also are wishing you a great trip to Lobstah-land. Enjoy the journey, Jane!

  8. Someone came up to me the other day and asked whether I knew that lovely, kind, sociable Sandy who was running for Mayor. It all makes sense now.

  9. Jane... A smile, a cheerful word ... Who knows when that is just what's needed. Am sure you will be sorely missed by your people over the next couple of weeks.. But ENJOY! Susan

  10. OK. Did anyone notice the flowers? That white Mandevilla is competition for the gardenia. And the mint and oregano flowers? gorge. Will the Mayor make sure there are flowers in her office?

  11. I love this. My aunt used to ride the bus to work because she didn't drive, she was Mayor Sara, made a ton of friends. Have a great vacation!

  14. Every line needs a smiling bus mayor. I'm a little jealous. Your ART 42 riders are lucky.

  16. It sounds like I need to spend more time on the bus in Arlington and less time fighting traffic. :o) I'd love to share the bus with a fellow noVA blogger. I really love that you actually talk to the people around you instead of looking through them.
