On Blue Bayou

Well now that I've come out of the closet, so to speak, we can revisit Florida.

If we were on texting terms this is the message you would have received from me on Sunday:" It's freakin' freezing".  Nuff said.

Monday was a beautiful springlike day. Not unlike Virginia yesterday, but with delicious foods, 9 hours sleep ( let's hear it for blackout blinds), surprisingly long dog walks, well surprising to one who is used to walking a lab. But these little guys can really shake a leg.

But they slowed down long enough for me to get some pictures of the flora.

It's always so amazing to me to see the product, shipped to us to use in flower arrangements, growing in nature.

Clusters of dates, Spanish moss hanging about, philodendron leaves and stag horn ferns growing up/into a tree. There was hibiscus, nasturtiums, cherry tomatoes, oleander, birds of paradise, rhododendron and euphorbia cactus blooming.

And the view out the front door? A bayou.

A bayou. I didn't stay longer why?

  2. It's always so magical to see the trees dripping with moss...and plants that we only see indoors growing outside.

    Beautiful bayou too.

  7. Oh and why didn't you stay longer? Still it sounds as though you had just the sort of time away from away that you were needing, and I hope coming home hasn't felt too awful and real. Lovely to see your face Jane. Pleased you clarified which was you in your 'coming out' photo. I might have struggled to guess otherwise!! Love to you. xx

  16. I wish I had Spanish Moss in quantity - here, the birds zoom in and take it for nests! But I figure their need is natural so I don't grumble. Much.
(And I do give them hairbrush combings, as well.)

  18. So beautiful. We have the same flora-fauna down her in New Orleans, which means, I get to live in pictures like those!

  20. There's a big rubber tree near the Zoo in San Diego that looks like that minus the witches moss. I'm missing me some ocean right now!

  21. Going from Virginia in winter to anywhere tropical is always a culture shock. Seeing houseplants growing in yards is disorienting.

    Love the last photo!
