Ah The Places We'll Go.

We appear to be suffering from cabin fever a la casa. In spite of Gus's best efforts I slept till 7:00am and after making my latte and feeding the critters, we all crawled back into bed to do a little reading and watch the snow come down.

The Tasmanian devils seemed to understand this was something new, they stared and stared, tails twitching in unison, and then they beat the stuffing out of one another. Then they stared some more.

It's 3 hours later and they haven't gone near the front door to mew pitifully and beg me to let them out. Or to break themselves out.

Instead they have turned the house into a race track.

For an unknown reason the roommate has had a small bag of  unopened dog kibbles in her room.

They were discovered and ripped open with gay abandon and sharp little kitten claws. Then left, unloved, lying in the middle of the floor.

The assumption being " Don't worry, Jane will clean it up". "Wheee, let's go toss litter around the back room".

Jane has done all the appropriate snow cleaning and cooking: steel cuts oats that require 40 minutes of simmering and a big pot of turkey and black bean chili.

Jane also gets to walk out of here about 1:00 for lunch and shopping with friends.

See you later little suckers.Don't even try looking all cute and innocent.

Bipeds rule.
And hold the keys to the kingdom.

  1. I love the little furry butts! We have a few ourselves, and they love to use the house as a racetrack- in the middle of the nite! Uughhh!

  2. How do people keep themselves amused without cats in the house? Sibling kitties are the best source of entertainment!

    Happy Snow Day!

  8. I'm not sure I would have the patience to do the 40-minute oatmeal. I could run to the corner store for some pop tarts in about five minutes. Does it taste that much better than the 5-minute stuff?

    1. Well it was a now day, I mean morning so I had time. And a pot full lasts me all week. So it is worth it to me for the chewiness of the steel cut oat. Tho the 5 minute kind is aokay for normal days.

  9. I used to make the 40 minute oatmeal for my old dog. He loved it. His vet said I had to add it to his kibble because he was too fat. It was either oatmeal or rice, and he picked every single bloody piece of rice out of the kibble.

I was cheered in today's vile snow by the forsythias, pussy willows and curly willow branches I'd had the foresight to get a week or so ago. Made me realize that spring will eventually come to our part of the world.

    Thinking of you.

  10. Hmmmm, bad weather and wild cat behaviour very familiar to me.

I had friends who came home once to find that a large bag of red lentils had been stolen from the kitchen cupboards and dragged right up to the attic, leaking all the way. Not one of their three Oriental cats would own up.....

    1. Of course if there was a dog in the house the cats would have blamed it on her.
