The After Party!

Now that was an excellent FITH.  Thanks to all who came to the party.  I love waking up to find it going on, like Donkey Kong. I was transported to England and Massachusetts before I had my first sip of espresso.

And this morning I awoke to find the party had continued while I was sleeping. New York and New Mexico both represented. Maybe next time you guys can turn the music down a little bit?

Just in case you think we're only about flowers and kittens and Labs these days you would be so wrong.

We're still eating.

A bowlful of quickly pickled vegetables.

Some skinless, boneless chicken thighs quickly marinated in 6 cloves of mince garlic, 4 Tbsp. grated onion, 4 Tbsp. of fish sauce, 2 Tbsp. of sugar and S&P , left to rest for at least 30 minutes then grilled stovetop.

.
Wrapped up in lettuce leaves, strewn with garden herbs and dripping with a Vietnamese fish sauce.

I was inspired (as always) by the Goddess of field and stream ,Marie.

I read her post, and did what she did: used what I had in the house and fudged the rest.

I don't think you can go wrong with this meal.

Or with a gratuitous kitten picture.

Or two:-)

Good God I am now officially a crazy cat woman.

  1. It looks like I left too early. I missed the food and it ain't really a party until New Mexico shows up.

  7. Call me crazy, but I want a few of your wraps for breakfast. They look delicious! Why haven't I eaten yet? Not even any coffee. Maybe you have some leftovers. I hope technology allows you to send me such things in the near future...

Then the food will be yours for the asking.

  10. I had this dish made by Marie's very own hands at her apartment in Brooklyn, when I first cat-sat Estorbo. Except we had it with roast pork belly and with an assortment of homemade sauces. Preceded by carrot and ginger soup, and followed with a tart livened up with gin-steeped cherries. You know Marie. And prosecco. Followed by some prosecco. And then some more prosecco. Drowning in bubbles. It was divine! Make this recipe!

    2. Oh, I know that! I should have also mentioned what great company we had at that dinner, not just Vince and Estorbo but Deb and Jim. It was a grand welcome to NYC!

Now, when are GG and you next on vacation, now that you have a pack that needs sitting?

I think I like being the Goddess of Field and Stream. I need you on my team :-)How much do you cost?

Funny, before I got to that part I was admiring your radish matchsticks and then the chicken, thinking, I wonder how she did that chicken...

John - you have a formidable memory :-)

    Thank you.
