Cupcakes And Aliens

I woke up too early for a Sunday.  But the kitten ( and calling a 18 year old cat a kitten is like calling me a jeune fille) had poked her little head into the bedroom and was squawking at the top of her lungs to GO OUT NOW.

So up I got. And once I'm up, I'm up.

While the espresso was dripping I was reading, posts not a book.  As I traveled here and there my mood visibly improved.  I sat up straighter, my mouth curved upwards and my eyes woke up in appreciation.

So for those of you who might have woken up a little bit on the wrong side of the bed I give you yesterday's wedding.

The tallest, thinnest bride with miles of straight blonde hair.  A love for yellow and orange, the groom and her family and friends. Much of the work was done by them.  The table numbers all told stories pertinent to their life together.  When we arrived at the venue, the bowls of citrus were on the table waiting for us to drop in a posy of roses and dahlias and berries and a gerbera daisy or two.

There were of course cupcakes.  I watched GG struggle with her conscience wanting to taste just one.  But after much circling of the dessert table she walked away.  Sugar craving vs. peace of mind.  Tough battle.

So what have we learned here today?  A good post can stir even the most reluctant heart.  Even a confirmed non camper can be enchanting by glamping.

And, this is the most important, always leave an extra cupcake or two for your florist. You did it for Santa, now do it for us.

Amen.

  1. My batches of cupcakes are hereby officially extended from 12 to 14, one with your name on and one with GG's and a question mark. We're not pushy here. The personal table numbers are a super idea.

  2. My dear jeune fille, I had the very same morning... although I have a wee pot of French Press next to me instead of espresso. And although I have a book sitting next to my coffee (I'm working my way through the old Nancy Drew series - for nostalgia's sake), I, too, am reading posts - yours being one of the ones that made me smile. Happy Sunday to you!

  5. I am sending a virtual hug to GG for walking away. I am so weak, offered, I don't think I could walk away. I love cupcakes..... I am sure the posies you dropped in bowls of citrus were the loveliest. Rest today and enjoy a good book (I bet you already a great read in your hands).

  6. Cake for the florist(s) well noted Jane. After-all, I think that to be very fair! Sounded like one of those weddings you go, "ohhhh..ahhhh.."over. Gorgeous colors and the grooms name is even cool. Did I read 'Heath'?

Have a lazy, good Sunday, I too was up earlier than I wanted but leads to time for some serious blogging. I need to catch up.
    Hugs xx

  7. Oh those flowers, yellow and orange and cupcakes to match...leave cupcakes for the talented florist--noted! I love the table numbers with little stories, so cute. People have the sweetest ideas and what better place to spill it all out, at a wedding!

  9. Wonderful flowers, Jane. May I borrow them for Saturday and skip all of that sticking in vases stuff? And, I think one needs at least four cupcakes for the florists. xoxo

    Jane:)

My petit owl, Merci. your post make me just as happy. New one please.

Steve, I know the whole room was happy. The bridal bouquet was all yellow flws with a yellow and white polka dot ribbon and the bridesmaids all orange with orange and white checked ribbon..edible.

Sarah-Jane, I just took your morning walk with you. Good mood indeed. You live in heaven.

Bonnie, ah, but they weren't offered or attended. thus the temptation...hours later just back from bookstore with two new books!!!

Dumbwit Teller, Yes, Heath. could there be a more romantic name for the groom? Now I'm off to see what you have been up to.

annie, I was telling GG when Heath proposed he took the bride out to dinner and when they arrived at the restaurant it was full of both their families, including grandparents and their friends. This couple is full of sweet ideas.

Sweetgum Thursday, I know , I like the buds even better the the open flower.

Good for GG making the difficult choice, hard to do when the cupcakes look like that!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. xo
