I have never done a giveaway. I could never think of anything I possessed that someone else might want.
Well, excepting the cats and now S-Man. But none are mine to give away. Just to feed on occasion.
So assuming there might be a person out there who hasn't bought a copy of "66 SquareFeet: A Delicious Life" by the goddess of field and stream Marie Viljoen, and would love to hold her terrace and her recipes in their hands, I offer a copy.
And how do you get lucky? You can either leave a comment with your link or email address if you're not a blogger, or you can send me the inside cardboard flap from your favorite cereal box.

You'll drool over the pictures, read her poetic prose with an occasional lump in your throat and create some magic in the kitchen on a cool September Sunday by cooking her bouillabaisse.
Marie was my first blogging inspiration. I had read an article about her and the terrace in the NYT and when I went to visit I was enchanted. The spell still holds firm. I got to have lunch with her in New York last week and trust me, she lives up to the legend.
I'll leave this open till September 18th. It's my birthday and seems a good day to give away something of value.This amazing offer is available world wide. I have received books from New York, Massachusetts, France and England via the wonderland of blogs.

with sadness & some regrets over their having to leave their beloved 66 Square Feet. I just hope they find a better space, with more room to garden and a kind, empathetic landlord this time. ReplyDeleteI only discovered your blog because of Marie's. I love her blog with all its photos and I'm very intrigued by her foraging. In NY parks no less. I am very interested in her book, but my budget is very tight. My husband has stage 4 lung cancer and now I am the only income, meanwhile taking some FMLA time for him, so my income has shrunk even more. Perhaps you will choose randomly, but if you're feeling particularly kind, I would really enjoy the pleasure of her book.. Meanwhile, whether I win or not, it is a pleasure to read your blogs as little oases in the otherwise rather constant stress of my life.
I also came to read your blog through Marie's. What a lovely and appropriate gift.

Marie was the first blog that I followed on a regular basis. You are my second. Both of you are inspirations! Because of you, I've started placing flowers in my office every Monday and it is amazing the difference in the energy. Thank you for that. ReplyDelete66 Square Feet and Small But Charming are the blogs I turn to early (4:30) in the morning while I sit with a steaming cup of French roast clearing my mind before a hectic day of elementary school teaching. Marie's photographs and her beautiful way with words and your stories of survival, renewal and small celebrations never fail to both calm and inspire me. And I hope you have a wonderful birthday - maybe a cute girl in an old pickup will drop off a potting bench...or yard decor for you....a cute single girl who is looking for someone who is compassionate, passionate, kind, thoughtful and creative!

DeleteI'm checking in after a week away ... nothing so inspirational or exciting as your jaunt through New England. It's wonderful that you spent time with blogging fellows. We learn so much about each other through what we share, it's natural that in-person meet-ups should be such treats. (I'll bet Steve is just as nice in person as he seems online.)
